Here's some of our favorite games to pull out when we have a little more time to invest. (Look to see if there's a solo variant if your friends aren't available.

Another Reiner Knizia classic design. So much to love about this game. It's an expedition racing game. Ready, set, go.

A surprise hit this year. Everyone loved it and will be playing many more times in the coming year.
Creature Comforts
Cozy, critter worker placement. Adorable. You'll be gathering goods from the forest to outfit your burrow for the long winter. Will your home be the coziest?
LOVE the Marvel theme here. This is by far my kids' favorite board game. Mine too! Sometimes you just want to collect your favorite characters even if it's not the most strategic choice.
Rumis
You'll be using 3D building blocks of varying shapes to construct historical Inca monuments. Player with the most stones showing from an aerial view wins the challenge. (Also known as Blokus 3D, but we own the original Rumis)
A beauty of a game. Draft colorful tiles to your personal grid in specific patterns and sets. A great complex puzzle hidden by a pretty face.
Draft colored dice to create a beautiful stained glass window. It's a pretty puzzle of patterns and placement restrictions. Love this one solo or multiplayer. And it's just so PRETTY.
Pure silly fun! Draft your zany team of racers and use their unique powers to modify the movement of the other racers as you speed or stumble your way around the track.
In Harmonies, you're building habitats for various animals. How many animals can you provide cozy homes for? Can also be played solo or multiplayer.

Betting on who knows the most obscure trivia. I've loved every game we've played.
Collect sets of adventurer cards to earn dice, which you then roll against foes. Ogres, Gobblins, Trolls, Dragons and more. Another of my son's all-time favorite games. We have played ALOT of Dragonwood.
You don't have to be bored waiting for your turn with this game. You'll be able to do things on other players' turns and vice versa. Keeps the game interesting at all times.
To outfit your ship's crew draw a tile from the bag and decide to keep the crewmember or flip it over to see another option. Only if you chose to flip, you MUST keep that crewmember. Fun, quick push your luck game with four different boards to chose from.
This one is on reserve for our next game night! Can't wait. If you've ever played Pandemic this one will be familiar. And I apologize, this one doesn't fit the under an hour playtime. But I had to include this one!
Fun double placement mechanism of conquering new territory, then building your own Viking village. A recent acquisition, and I want to play so much more of this.
